What makes someone queer, gay or lesbian. With gays I have there is a popular theory, that homosexuality in men is due to birth order and lower womb testosterone. But since fertility is declining, would that lead to reduction in the percentage of gays, since the womb testosterone stays the same for the first and the second child? But I don’t know if there is evidence for this. Secondly, how would low womb testosterone explain lesbianism, lesbians are definitely rarer than gays. Is homosexuality mental illness that can be cured, and childhood molestation causes this as people believed it in the past? Is it a developmental disorder where sexual…

Most human prudery only makes sense in the context of seriously deleterious STDs. From this you get homosexuality prohibitions, no for fornication/adultery for men (cuckholding issues are only relevant for female adultery), p3d0 taboo. I still am not sure we have outgrown that context since I believe there are probably a lot of undetectable STDs that sum up to cause big issues like auto immune disorders, cancers, mental health issues and so on

Interesting! But why would homosexuality exist in the first place, what makes it persist in the population, despite them not leaving behind any offspring.

Homosexuality is not a highly genetic trait, judging by the twin concordance rate much lower than most heritable traits’, but even if it were genetic, its persistence need not be a mystery. Why do people who are too psychotic or autistic to have kids exist? They obviously got risk-raising alleles from unaffected parents. The only way schizo or autist genes would die out is if such genes only appeared in affected people or if unaffected carriers of them stopped reproducing, and even so, a big part of autism/schizophrenia risk is believed to be de novo germline mutations (i.e. alleles not in the parents’ own genomes). Some speculate that homosexuality-producing alleles are associated with higher fertility in opposite-sex siblings or people who don’t have enough of them to turn out gay.
