I was recently watching Oscar De La Hoya’s feud with Canelo Alvarez. For people who don’t know Oscar De La Hoya is a former Olympic gold medalist, pro boxer turned promoter, and Canelo Alvarez is a current boxer who is the second highest paid athlete. Neither guys come off as smart, and the Golden Boy promotions itself is not run by De La Hoya, the brains behind it was Richard Schafer. But Canelo claimed Oscar scammed him out of his millions. Now I won’t go into the whole feud but similar thing was claimed by Tyson about Don King. Both Don King and Oscar De La Hoya give me the scammer vibes.
Now I do not know Oscar’s IQ, but he passed high school so he may be around 90 to 100 range. But if he was some honest blue collar wagie, he could only make so much. If he wasn’t a super star boxer, he would probably be some sort of loan shark, for him it would make him more money that way. Now compared to someone who is in 80s, for them an honest blue collar job would pay more, because being a drug dealer is riskier and may not even make them that much money, but this is just speculation. One can be a scammer at any point on the IQ curve, you can be an skilled black hat hacker at 130 IQ or a petty drug dealer at 80, but…
