pure speculation, but maybe this will be possbile in the future through in vitro gametogenesis (perhaps combined with iterated embryo selection or advanced, precise gene editing techniques). steering our own evolution at least somewhat more directly instead of relying on the crude reproductive luck of the dice sounds appealing. afaik cloning is already feasible though why would you do that? there is always room for improvement
